North American Occupational Safety and Health Week, May 3-9, 2009

Hello from the lady in the blue cape. Bamboo told me to remind you that the North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week is May 3-9. Have you heard about NAOSH Week? If not, check out the details at http://www.asse.org/newsroom/naosh09/. Occupational Safety and Health Professional Day on May 6 is included in this week, which aims to raise awareness about occupational safety, health, and the environment.

You know, it’s kind of big deal. After all, governors and mayors have issued proclamations on NAOSH Week and last year the United States Congress passed a resolution supporting the week.

Here are some handy tips to promote this important week to your customers and get customer service and your outside sales staff fired up.

1) Add a NAOSH Week home page or banner ad to your website.

2) Give a discount on all web orders.

3) Issue your own proclamation and help your local ASSE Chapter.

Example: For every $500 in sales earned on our website between May 3 and May 9 we will contribute $10 to our local ASSE chapter student scholarship fund. Start shopping now!

Contact your local ASSE Chapter. If you are not a member JOIN, and if you are a member then continue your support! If you decide on doing your own proclamation, let Panda help you spread the word and get some great PR on this. You’ll be amazed at how this helps your page rankings.

4) Have your own worker appreciation cookout.

Take some pictures and spread the word about your commitment to worker safety. Recognize Occupational Safety and Health Professional Day on May 6 with a company event.

5) In the past ASSE members sponsored free safety classes, volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, and even held PPE fashion shows.

These are things that you can easily do, and they’ll have a great impact on your customers.

Marketing to your customers doesn’t always have to be about a product or service. Just do something nice, be a part of the safety community and follow through.

Finally, be sure you email your customers about this. Get the word out.
